Whiskey Heartache came on the scene in late September 2007 when lead singer Lucas Wilson relocated to Chicago from Grand Rapids, MI. He began writing music with pianist Davy Tyson, also a recent transplant to the city and a member of Wilson's Michigan rock act Sweet Japonic. They enlisted the services of bassist Max Lockwood for the band's first performance, a largely improvised show that was enthusiastically received, and soon after found local drummer Nick Kabat to complete the group. Now a tightly-knit foursome of songwriters , Whiskey Heartache's acoustic music blends elements and influences of folk, blues, rock and soul with touches of jazz and gospel, and Wilson's honest expressive vocals are perfectly complemented by the classically trained, expert rhythm section.

The band has met with remarkable success and captivated audiences in their brief existence. In 2008, they signed with Stonecutter Records, and recorded their first EP, with producer/engineer Chris Steinmetz at the city's premiere studio, Chicago Recording Company. Lucas puts importance on sincerity and dedication in music over exceptional skill and acrobatics, though the band has the ability to incorporate great songwriting as well as sincerity into their music. As they prepare to release their first record, Whiskey Heartache continues to welcome fans and attention to their soulful, compelling music.
